Summary. Hypolytrum pseudomapanioides D. A. Simpson & Lye, from Kodmin in south-western Cameroon, is described and illustrated.
During an expedition to south-western Cameroon in 1998, one of us (M.C.) found a large forest sedge, which has proved to be new to science. It was initially identified as a species of Mapania, but subsequent investigation revealed it to be a member of the related genus Hypolytrum.
Hypolytrum pseudomapanioides D. A. Simpson & Lye sp. nov. II. subcomposilus Lye & D. A. Simpson affinis sed culmis 1 centralis (vs 2-3 lateralis), bractea inflorescentiae infima usque ad 50 cm longa (vs usque ad 8 cm longa) differt. Typus: Cameroon, South West Province, ...
