In 2003, Claudia Burchstead traveled to North Carolina and came home with an idea that turned her into an entrepreneur.
The Lancaster County woman bought a fabric handbag while vacationing in the Outer Banks. When she returned to Central Pennsylvania, she started fiddling around with fabric and her sewing machine to see what handbags she could produce. Friends liked what they saw and encouraged her to sell her creations.
"It sort of came out of nowhere," Burchstead said.
