Allergen immunotherapy, also known as desensitization therapy, is administered to patients with environmental allergies. The purpose of this article is to discuss liability issues associated with the administration of allergen immunotherapy. This article also explores position statements by the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology, and the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, and the liability impact of these statements on clinical nursing practice.
