AN ESTIMATION OF AIRCRAFT EMISSIONS AT TURKISH AIRPORTS

ABSTRACT
We present the first estimates for aircraft landing and take-off (LTO) emissions at 40 Turkish airports in 2001, including the biggest airports: Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul (AIA), Antalya Airport in Antalya and Esenboga Airport in Ankara. The calculation model is based on flight data recorded by the State Airports Authority. The flight data include the type and number of aircraft, number of passengers, and cargo volume by date and time. For the emission calculations, we used the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Engine Exhaust Emissions Data Bank, which includes minimum and maximum values for both fuel flow rates and emissions factors.
