When the no-nonsense educrats in the Bush Department of Education conceived the No Child Left Behind Act, they probably didn't have school districts like Marin's Lagunitas in mind. Situated in the verdant San Geronimo Valley, where three decades ago the parents and even grandparents of some present-day Lagunitas students settled in to build a community markedly different than, say, Crawford, Texas, it is a district that resonates with egalitarian credos and professions of concern for individual student needs.
