Gaps in the conversation: Missing issues in the discourse of the student affairs field

Researchers determined the degree to which the eight trends published in "Higher Education Trends for the Next Century" (Johnson & Cheatham, 1999) were a current focus for student affairs professionals. Researchers also found two general patterns within the discourse data: a lack of a focus on issues external to the field and a lack of a focus on issues of finance and resources. Implications are presented for student affairs leaders and researchers, as well as higher education graduate programs.
