One of humankind's greatest needs at present is a natural science of basic and applied cultural analysis. Nearly all of the critical issues human society currently faces are either directly or indirectly grounded in collective behavior. Environmental damage and its impact on ourselves and other organisms; collective violence including genocide, criminal gangs, torture and war; drug abuse and its global effects; the oppression of children, women, and indigenous groups-all are the direct results of actions people take or fail to take.
