At first, Derek Anderson's office on Main Street belies his status as a pro basketball star near the, prime of his career. The walls and shelves bear a few mementos from his college career along with softball trophies (celebrity-circuit home runs thrill him more than the average buzzer-beater), but little evidence of his current position among the highly paid NBA pantheon. The room's most prominent image is a pencil drawing of a young African-American child shinning to the top of a sign that marks the symbolic junction of "Pride" and "Dream" streets. The nameplate on the desk says simply "Derek Anderson, C.E.O."
