Using Hypnosis With Cancer Patients in a Group Context

This paper discusses the notion of a psychological intervention with groups of cancer patients aimed at improving general quality of life and physical symptoms. There is consideration first of the psychological impact of cancer and then of the kinds of interventions described in the literature that have been used to try and improve these situations. With reference to reviews of the range and variety of formats used with cancer patients, I describe briefly my own efforts to elucidate some of these issues through a randomised control study with cancer patients.
