"We do feel like we've set the bar for development down the line in the area," said Paul Borsheim, one of six partners in Northside Development LLC, which is redeveloping the 14 acres north of downtown La Crosse off Copeland Avenue.

City leaders are investing about $5.4 million in the project that taps into the downtown's aesthetics, traffic patterns and attractions while inviting more Copeland development.
