With the increase in Rxto-OTC switches, a number of valuable drugs are now available at lower costs. Is it likely that state Medicaid programs will provide reimbursement for these drugs now that they have gone over the counter? Maybe so, according to Luis Gutierrez, a principal with Health Technology Associates, a consulting firm based in Washington, D.C.
Gutierrez recently published a study about market trends and state policies regarding nonprescription drugs. In his opinion, there is a good chance that Medicaid may reimburse for these products more often in the future.
