Article: Border study raises more questions on narcotics

A recent study of prescription drugs brought into the United States from Mexico has raised at least as many questions as it has answered. For years, pharmacists in border areas have complained that they are losing significant business to U.S. citizens who buy cardiovascular, ulcer, and antibiotic products from pharmacies in Mexico. But based on a random sample of U.S. Customs declarations at the Laredo, Texas, border crossing, U.S. citizens are passing up maintenance meds in favor of controlled substances.
