Nigeria GTL Plant is to Start Up in 2009

Sasol Synfuel International says it and partner Chevron expect to start the $1.7 billion Nigerian GTL plant to be built in Escravos in 2009.

Sasol said in December that engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) work on the project has started and 100 Nigerian trainees are now undergoing operational and maintenance training at Sasolburg in South Africa in preparation for the start up of the GTE plant.

The EPC contract was awarded to Team JKS, an international consortium for the construction of the 34,000 b/d GTL plant at Chevron Nigeria Limited's Escravos production site. Team JKS comprises JGC of Japan, KBR of the U.S. and Snamprogetti of Italy.
