New digs, truffle test, fondue fun
COME ON BY. A charming small restaurant in Corte Madera's old town neighborhood is open again, ready for intimate casual dining. Its name is Simmer and its seasonal California/French menu is created by executive chef Larry Dunning of Sausalito. Dunning comes to Simmer from PlumpJack in Lake Tahoe (before that he was at the resort area's popular Truffula). Owners Leslie Kohn and Ken Harris were the backers for Cinq, which occupied the space until recently. Harris will be in the kitchen some of the time (he's also a chef) and Kohn will manage the business. Hours are Tue.-Sun. for dinner, with brunch on Sun. (60 Corte Madera Ave., 415/927-2332)
