A new species of Creagrutus from the RÃo Magdalena basin, Colombia, is described. This species is distinguished from all congeners by a combination of morphometric, meristic, and morphological features. The species is the first member of the genus known to have breeding tubercles with keratinized caps. The phylogenetic position of the new species and various aspects of its ecology and behavior are discussed.
