Article: Baker hopes to be rolling in dough

This is the first in a series of articles about Tim Smyser, who expects to open a bakery franchise business in York by May 20.

It was love at first sight.

Timothy P. Smyser visited his first Big Sky Bread Co. location last summer in Charlotte, N.C., when his sister took him there to buy bread. Smyser knew right then that he wanted to be behind the counter of a business like this in Central Pennsylvania.

"It was just so neat because the whole thing was a theater presentation," he said. "There's a lot of bandying back and forth between the customers and the workers."

The atmosphere at Big Sky Bread Co. is carefully orchestrated. Bread is baked throughout the day, in full view of customers. ...
