The reins of Pocono Downs in Plains Township are in the hands of new leadership, who find themselves jockeying racing track into a new era.

Virginia Banks was elected president of Pocono Downs Inc. and its subsidiaries in mid-April. Banks' husband, Joseph B. Banks, who owned and operated the track since 1983, died, April 6.

Two weeks before Banks' death, Herb Grayek joined the management staff of Pocono Downs as executive vice president. Previously, Grayek was president of Penn National Racetrack in Grantville, Dauphin County.
