NCP in no hurry to ask Naik to quit

Mumbai, Jan 14 -- THE NATIONALIST Congress Party (NCP) on Saturday indicated that it was in no hurry to ask Ganesh Naik, minister for excise and environment, to step down for his alleged role in a bank scam.

NCP general secretary Tariq Anwar, referring to the Bombay High Court's (HC) observations calling for initiation of criminal proceedings against Naik, said the party will first study the HC order and strictures against Naik before taking a call what to do.

"Also, he has moved the apex court. Till, the final outcome on the matter is announced, we will not take any action against him,'' Anwar said.
