PotlachCorp., one of the U.S.'s biggest pulp/paper producers, announced recently that it would seek to build a pulp-based "black liquor gasification" (BLG) plant to produce ultra-clean FT diesel as well as integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) power.
The project would seek financial help from an upcoming U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) "integrated biorefinery" funding solicitation and would involve several collaborating partners, including charitable foundation Winrock International (founded by former Arkansas Gov. Winthrop Rockefeller (R)), the University of Arkansas at Monticello, and the Division of Energy of the Arkansas Department of Economic Development, Potlach announced.
