In a new report, the California Energy Commission (CEC) recommends that all future diesel fuels in the state should have at least 5% of "non-petroleum" components such as GTE FT diesel, biodiesel or ethanol, in order to meet the state's goals for reducing "petroleum dependence."

The latest report revises downward a 2003 CEC recommendation that 33% of all the state's diesel be blended with GTE as the most cost-effective strategy among all "alternative fuels" schemes. (See August, 2003 Gas to Liquids News, p1).
