TUPELO -- Three key resources -- people, community infrastructure and economic development -- will determine Northeast Mississippi's long-term viability.
So says the Commission on the Future of Northeast Mississippi in an extensive report on the 15-county area. The 32-member group studied the region's challenges for more than a year, presenting its report on Friday, June 7, at a symposium here.
"Our objective was to identify issues that will assist in the advancement of Northeast Mississippi," said Mike Clayborne, managing consultant with Tupelo-based CREATE Foundation. "We believe we've located areas of significance where things can be done on a local and a regional basis."
