SHIMLA, India, Nov. 22 -- The Government of Himachal Pradesh issued the following press release:

Malana, the oldest sovereign democratic village in Asia situated in Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh, would be connected with motorable road on priority and government high school to be provided to promote educational activities in the village. This was revealed by Shri Virbhadra Singh, Chief Minister while addressing an impressive public meeting at the dam site of Malana project in Kullu district after laying the foundation stone of 100 MW Malana Stage-II Hydro Electric Power Project in the private sector to be executed by the Everest Power Private Ltd., at a cost of Rs. 633 crore today.
