Article: Appellate court can interfere with trial court's acquittal: HC

NEW DELHI, India, Nov 9 -- THE ALLAHABAD High Court has ruled that if the trial court acquits an accused by giving undue importance to minor discrepancies and takes suspicious view of the evidence based on conjectures and surmises, then the appellate court will be justified in interfering with the order of acquittal.

Giving this ruling, the court convicted and sentenced two accused Surendra and Kripal Singh to undergo five years' rigorous imprisonment for brutally assaulting victim Barmadin.
