The U.S. Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Coast Guard, 1st District office, issued the following press release:
Winter is still in full force but recent warm weekend temperatures have beckoned boaters, paddlers, and sailors and at least one kite surfer to coastal waters. Tempting as the waters may be and with warm weather forecasted for Saturday, the U.S. Coast Guard and state boating agencies remind residents and visitors to the Northeast that a sudden plunge into cold water, whether intentional or through capsizing or a fall overboard, can become fatal.
