MINDORO, Wis. - A $6.2 million expansion and renovation of the Swiss Valley Farms Co. cheese plant in Mindoro, Wis., has been completed, allowing the plant to increase production and employment.
A ground-breaking ceremony was held in September 2000 for the project, which was completed late last month.
The 24,000-square-foot addition tripled the size of the cheese plant, plant manager Richard Glick said last week. The project gives the plant the capacity to produce four times as much Danish-style blue cheese and Gorgonzola cheese as it did before, he said.
So far, production has tripled. "If everything goes good, (quadrupling the original production level) probably will be in another year," ...
