HA Secondary Committee reacted immediately to the article in the TES on 21 September which suggested that history and geography at Key Stage 3 might be made optional for some pupils. We are now liaising with the Royal Geographical Society, the Geographical Association and, more recently, with the Royal Historical Society, to organise a longer, substantial, joint response to be sent to Estelle Morris as well as to key figures guiding education policy, particularly the policy advisers to No. 10.
