In Italy, the Filmmaker's Case Has Not Been Closed
Who Killed Pasolini? is a passionate docudrama that introduces to U.S. audiences a case long famous in Italy: the brutal murder in 1975 of one Pier Paolo Pasolini, filmmaker, poet, essayist, Marxist, political agitator, journalist, and not incidentally, homosexual. Playing throughout Italy last fall for the 20th anniversary of the murder, Who Killed Pasolini? managed to do something that even a spate of recent books hadn't managed: it mobilized such public outrage that the case is currently under judicial review.
