Article: WVU Develops Standards for Teaching Forensic Accounting

MORGANTOWN - It's not often an entirely new subject is taught in colleges. But that's the case for forensic accounting and fraud investigation, and faculty at West Virginia University's College of Business and Economics have spent the past two years preparing draft guidelines for how it should be taught.

Forensic accounting itself is not new, according to public accounting professor Richard Riley, who was co-chairman of the course guideline drafting process.

"Accountants have provided fraudulent financial records investigation and litigation support to corporations, government and law enforcement for decades," Riley said.
