Greetings residents of Texas District 24. Every third Monday in January, Americans celebrate the life and times of Martin Luther Luther King, Jr. We honor the legacy of this 1950's and 60's civil rights leader who won a Nobel Peace Prize for successfully using nonviolent resistance to obtain racial equality.
This year, the 20th anniversary of honoring King with a national holiday, is especially important in light of the recent death of another civil rights trailblazer, Rosa Parks.
