Depending on whom you're listening to at the moment, Woody Allen's Match Point is either "a return to form" or "a bold new direction" for the increasingly crabby, staggeringly prolific 70-year-old auteur.
The sad truth is that it's neither.
Hastily rewritten and transparently transposed to England after the filmmaker's recent desultory box office returns made it impossible for him to finance another money-losing New York story, Match Point is the same old shit dolled up in slightly swankier London duds--plus posh accents!
