The Connecticut Attorney General issued the following news release:
Attorney General Richard Blumenthal today said there is no legal impediment to an agreement between Citizens Energy and CITGO to provide heating oil assistance to state citizens.
Under an agreement with CITGO - owned by the national oil company of Venezuela - Citizens Energy will provide financial assistance to heating oil customers in Connecticut. The assistance will go to about 15,000 low-income Connecticut citizens who have exhausted their benefits under the federal Low Income Heating and Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).
