Siliguri, March 4 -- To institutionalise marriage among illiterate tribals in the tea gardens of Siliguri (Assam), the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) organised mass marriage. The idea was to provide a social recognition to weaker sections of the society.
The VHP's aim was to provide social recognition to couples through holding mass marriage ceremony. Some 10-12 couples tied nuptial knot at ceremony.
