Bristol-Myers Squibb, the $13.8 billion pharmaceutical giant, on June 26 held a press conference at the State House in Trenton. The main reason was to announce that the company was setting up its shared services center at Nassau Park, an office building on Route 1 in West Windsor.
As television cameras whirred and flashes popped, Charles A. Heimbold, Jr., the company's chief executive, joined Gov. Christie Whitman -- all smiles after her appearance on the David Letterman show the previous night -- and Commerce Commissioner Gualberto Medina to declare that Bristol-Myers Squibb was committing 550 jobs to New Jersey.
