Palmeiro Ends Silence on Eve of Report - New York Times

With a Congressional committee set to release a report today on whether Rafael Palmeiro committed perjury in March when he denied using steroids, Palmeiro offered his first public comments about his situation in more than three months yesterday in a statement released by his lawyers. Palmeiro, a free agent who played for the Baltimore Orioles last season, said he had "never intentionally taken steroids," while acknowledging that stanozolol, an anabolic steroid, was found in his system in May. That discovery was reported by the news media soon after Palmeiro's failed drug test was announced by Major League Baseball in August.
