Ex-Astronaut Wins Ruling in Attack - New York Times

ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 2 (AP) - A circuit judge said Friday that the police coerced Capt. Lisa M. Nowak, a former astronaut, into giving information in a longinterview after she was arrested in connection with an attack on a romantic rival. The judge then approved a defense motion to throw out Captain Nowak'scomments and the search of her car.The judge, Marc L. Lubet of Orange County Circuit Court, said investigators took advantage of Captain Nowak, 44, who had not slept for more than 24 hours before she reportedly attacked herrival at the Orlando airport in February.Judge Lubet said that Detective Chris Becton of the Orlando Police Department answered evasively when Captain Nowak asked ...
