He has closed his 10-year-old Commonwealth Winery, one of New England's biggest and best known, because of longstanding financial trouble. The winery, which operated in this historic town not far from Plymouth Rock, corked its last bottle earlier this year and shut the door of its retail shop on Sept. 3.
