On-line buyers beware: a new survey concludes that many Web sites are hawking counterfeit luxury wares like imitation Gucci handbags, facsimiles of Furbie and virtually real Rolexes. The survey, conducted by Cyveillance, a New York company that tracks corporate counterfeiters on the Net, found that 10 percent to 20 percent of sites selling Gucci, Coach, Rolex, Beanie Babies and other big-name items were not selling the real product advertised. Cyveillance's chairman and chief executive, Brandy Thomas, compared the problem to buying a watch on a street corner in New York City.
