Earlier this season, Diamondbacks starter Micah Owings was receiving a lot of attention for his prowess as a hitter, and rightfully so. He was batting well above .300 and even hit a pinch-hit home run. It is possible all that attention stirred up some competitive fire in one of the game's other good hitting pitchers, because recently no one has been hotter than Cubs starter Carlos Zambrano. With one hit Saturday against the Dodgers, Zambrano was leading major league starting pitchers who had more than 25 at-bats with a .364 batting average.
