Article: Column: 'Blades' Capture Figure Skating

Johnny Weir, somebody's raided your closet. Been spying on you and your fellow skaters at competitions, too. Whoever came up with the script for "Blades of Glory" knew their figure skating.

You won't see two men competing together at the 2010 Games in Vancouver, and even the edgiest of skaters knows better than to try to impress the judges with Billy Squier.

But the rivalries? The stage parents? The over-the-top fans? The haul of stuffed animals so big it could carry FAO Schwarz for a few months? That's figure skating, all right.

"I thought it was hilarious," said U.S. men's champion Evan Lysacek, who went to the "Blades of Glory" premier with Sasha Cohen, who has a part in the movie.
