NEW YORK - It was amid the crimson-green-and-gold splendor of the Russian Tea Room that Dustin Hoffman, dressed as a dowdy, middle-aged woman in "Tootsie," sidled up to his apoplectic agent, played by a sputtering Sydney Pollack.
