Library Results BasicsThe HighBeam Research Engine displays the total number of results in the upper left corner of the Library Results page. This is the total number of results that matched your search of the sources you selected. Each result lists the article's title, bibliographic information and a brief summary. The search term that you used appears in the search box at the top of the page, and the sources searched appear in the Refine By Source box next to the search results. You can navigate through the Library results one page at a time by clicking on "Next", or by selecting a page number from the list to the immediate right of the number of results. You can select the number of results that you would like to see per page by using the drop down box at the top right of the page (you can also set this in the My Preferences section). Return to Top Sorting Your ResultsInitially, articles in the results list are sorted by relevancy. You can sort the articles in the order you prefer by clicking the Sort by box and selecting one of the following options: Relevancy - The HighBeam Research Engine assigns relevancy values after evaluating how closely the words in each article match your search term. Closer the matches indicate higher relevance. When sorted by relevancy, the most relevant articles are near the top. Date - Click the date option to sort the articles by their publication date. When sorted by date, the most recently published articles are near the top. In addition to sorting by date, you may refine your search results by using one of the refine by options located on the right side of the page. Return to Top Using "Refine by Source"The "Refine By" options appear on the right side of the Library Results page. Refine by Source allows you to narrow the number of search results by choosing to view only search results from a particular type of source, such as newspapers, magazines & journals, books, transcripts, maps or images. For example, by clicking on "Newspapers," you will see only those items that both matched the search term and appeared in newspapers. After seeing the search results in newspapers, you could click on any other source type included in the search, or click on "All Library Sources" and see all results from all source types that matched the search term.
