Harry K. Mansfield, 80, Boston tax attorney.(Obituaries)(Obituary)

Harry K. Mansfield of Boston, a prominent Boston tax attorney, died Sunday. He was 80.

Born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., Mr. Mansfield was raised in Arlington and attended Arlington High School. He graduated from Harvard College in 1941. He then attended Harvard Law School, where he served as an editor of the Harvard Law Review.

After law school, he clerked for Judge Henry Edgerton of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals and for Justice Felix Frankfurter of the U.S. Supreme Court for the 1944 term.

After a year with the Department of Justice Tax Division in Washington, D.C., he returned to Boston in 1946 to join the Boston law firm now known as Ropes and Gray.
