Florida Says So Far, So Good for Phosphate Cleanup at Fertilizer Plant Site.

Aug. 7--Shipping and dumping more than 16 million gallons of treated phosphate wastewater into the Gulf of Mexico in just more than two weeks has created no "noticeable" problems, Florida officials said Wednesday.

Releasing the first of planned weekly monitoring reports, regulators and researchers said they had found no major impact on the Gulf's water or wildlife despite the discharge of three shiploads of water from the idled Piney Point plant.
