The goal is set. The pledge cards are out. The dollar thermometer is rising.
The 2003 United Way of South Hampton Roads fund-raising campaign is off and running.
The drive quietly kicked off last week with the Day of Caring, an event that put hundreds of employees to work on volunteer projects throughout the region.
Organizers aim to bring together major companies, schools, military communities and city, state and federal employees to raise $17.6 million for 70 local health and human service agencies.
``If we bring the needs of people to the attention of givers, the goal will be met,'' explained 2003 United Way ...
