Salisbury, Md.-Based Perdue Farms Makes Fertilizer from Chicken House Litter.

Feb. 2--Perdue Farms Inc. of Salisbury, Md., is known as one of the nation's top three chicken producers. But the $2.7 billion-a-year company has another product that most people have never heard of -- fertilizer made from chicken house litter.

Perdue AgriRecycle LLC sales representative Paul Spies was attended the Indian River Citrus League's seminar at the St. Lucie County Fairgrounds west of Fort Pierce last week with samples of the chicken manure and sawdust product sold as MicroStart60.

The company removes more than 50,000 tons of litter from chicken houses in Maryland ...
