NEW PRAGUE 4, ALEXANDRIA 2
The New Prague hockey team knew next to nothing about Alexandria before Friday's Class A state semifinal game at Ridder Arena. So the Trojans worried only about themselves.
The result was a 4-2 victory behind two goals and an assist by Trojans scoring leader Jenna Kilpatrick, a goal and an assist by No. 2 scorer Jessie Doig and 20 saves by eighth-grade goaltender Daedra Culshaw.
"We had no common opponents and we knew nothing about them," New Prague coach Dan Gullickson said. "Our goal was to play our game and make them make mistakes. And good goaltending can carry you through the playoffs."
