Sowing the seeds of science Crone students get to the root of experiments.(Neighbor)

Rows of different plant species are precisely lined up by type.

Above them, incandescent lamps simulating natural sunlight are hung at exactly the same height. Each plant receives the same amount of water at the same time every day. Temperatures are monitored. Plant growth is recorded diligently. Every possible measure has been taken to ensure a controlled scientific experiment.

But this is no research project at a greenhouse or lab. Crone Middle School sixth-graders have been studying earth sciences, and the 350 students have participated in a seed growth monitoring venture. Nothing of this magnitude has taken place ...
