Proper water pump diagnosis and installation methods will help you solve your customers cooling system problems, avoid unnecessary wear and insure maximum water pump life. Some helpful tips are as follows:
* Before removing the water pump, thoroughly flush the cooling system to remove all sediment, rust or scale deposits.
* Carefully disconnect hoses, fan belts, fan and fan clutch as applicable.
* Remove the water pump by removing the mounting bolts and gently prying the water pump from the cylinder block with a screwdriver if necessary.
* Thoroughly clean the gasket mounting surfaces, water passages and the impeller cavity in the engine block.
