In April 1995, Timothy McVeigh rented a truck, filled it with 4,800 pounds of ammonium nitrate fertilizer and fuel oil and detonated it at the federal building in Oklahoma City, killing 168 people and injuring hundreds.

After the 9/11 terrorist attacks, terrorist experts predicted that truck bombs, using ammonium nitrate fertilizer, may be al-Qaida's next weapon of choice in America. After all, ammonium nitrate fertilizer is relatively cheap, selling for about $240 a ton (which is enough to blow up an office building). And it's abundantly accessible, with no questions asked.
