This week marks a sad milestone: The number of American soldiers killed in the Iraq war now exceeds the number of people killed in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
At the same time, there is something wrong in focusing on the number of American soldiers killed while ignoring the far larger number of Iraqi civilians. It is as if Iraqi lives are somehow less valuable than American ones.
Every death in this pointless war, whether American or Iraqi, is a tragedy. And every tragedy in this war is the direct personal responsibility of the man who wanted to be a war president for political advantage, George W. Bush.
